Tips For Completing an Error-Free Application

1. Notary Bond: The Montana Secretary of State requires all notary applicants to include a $25,000 surety bond with their application. The state does not provide one, so we include the bond and an Oath of Office in our all-in-one notary package. Remember, you must sign your bond and have it notarized by a Montana notary in good standing before sending it to the state. Make sure the names on your bond, application and seal are identical.
2. Application Fee: Montana charges a $25 filing fee that goes to the state. If you don’t include payment, your application will be rejected.
3. Training and Exam: Notary applicants must complete state-approved training, pass an exam then attach the completion certificates to their application. For an additional $30, we offer training that fulfills Montana’s requirement. You can purchase the training along with your notary package.
